Overview
Bone Tomahawk is a 2015 western/mystery/horror set in the small town of Bright Hope (excellent town name) starring Kurt Russell as the Sheriff, who sets out on a journey with his small gang of misfits after the local doctor and a prisoner in his custody go missing from his jail in the night without explanation believed to be at the hands of a small tribe of cannibalistic American Indians. What looks to start as a run of the mill western, has a lot of nice surprises which makes this film a lot more unique than your average Clint Eastwood or Charles Bronson spaghetti tale.
Most Memorable Scene
Without doubt, it has to be when Sheriff's deputy Nick, is held upside down, and savagely smashed in the balls with a tomahawk, not once, not twice, but three times until he was completely split in half and prepared to be eaten by the cannibal Indians. I am pretty sure that every man who has witnessed this won't be forgetting it for a long time and will be haunted by the painful nightmares of this predicament for a good while to come.
Favourite Quote
"Let it cool down first" - Kurt Russell has to keep reminding his backup deputy to let his soup cool down before he eats it. This is a man who's fought in a war and has ample medical training to aid injured soldiers on the battle field, there is even a few scenes which support this claim throughout the movie, clearly a man with great wisdom, yet he seems incapable of eating a meal without burning his mouth, and whilst were at it, can't remember the details of suspicious activity he has taken upon himself to report. If you ever are unfortunate enough to need assistance from local law enforcement, you may not want this man to turn up, but if you are the perpetrator, you could well be lucky enough to get away with murder. Maybe...
Final Words
I was pleasantly surprised with Bone Tomahawk, the horror meets western has been attempted a few times and either just doesn't work or is silly as hell. I found this to be extremely entertaining and i believe both Western and/or Horror fans will enjoy this film.
I give this film 6 out of 5 stars, 2.5 stars because i love Kurt Russell, 2.5 stars for not being Cry Baby or My Dinner With Andre, and an extra bonus star, because Captain Spaulding from House of 1000 corpses and Devil's Rejects stars for the first 5 minutes at the very beginning.
Ah I highly recommend that and Devils Rejects then. 3 from Hell was the third film in the series. I wasnt aware Sid Haig had died but now makes sense as to why his appearance was brief in 3 from Hell.
I haven't seen House of 1000 corpses but I knew I recognised that face from somewhere - it's Sid Haig - great character actor and a favourite of Rob Zombie. Sadly, Sid died in September of last year.

I thought you'd like that, although I'm surprised I'm the only one who mentioned Captain Spauldings brief appearance 😆
😂😂 thats quite a rating system you have there!
