It has become apparent to me in this group, that it is fairly easy to guess who has picked what film, when I hear of a Japanese subtitled movie that makes no sense, I know this is a choice by the one and only, Shane Grant. I have a massive appreciation for Shane's choices, not necessarily because they're always good, but because he introduces me to a side of cinema and film I'd never think to delve into. This film definitely is one of those choices, so what's it all about...
Very good question, all I can tell you, is thats its a a movie, about making a zombie movie, no blood and guts or gore, but just a parody of the scares and screams you'd expect. We're introduced to a horror scene, which is seemingly intense but not the best acted but hey, let's go with it, only to discover we're watching filming of filming. I cannot discuss plot or give an overview, because it is very much random, as i eat my easter egg and drink coffee from my favourite mug, but this is a film you can't help but finish. I feel some influence from illegal narcotics would help things along, but i decided against it and watched fully sober, which I'm now pleased i did, more for mental health purposes than for trying to understand what was going on.
I normally do a favourite quote, but in a subtitled movie I found it hard to grab one, aswell as a favourite scene. But what I do love, is the thought of a stoned Shane, sat there with a happy, big smile on his face, thinking this is a piece of pure cinema gold, definitely not the worst choice so far, but it is no Tam Popo, (the ramen film). But! This movie did keep me well entertained enough to keep watching in the hope I'd eventually figure out what was going on, which never came! But all in all, an enjoyable enough view.
I score One Cut of The Dead, 3.5 give me a damn ramen anyway out of 5!
That would have been a top idea!
Were you hoping Shane would come over and cook you ramen for your viewing?
