Sleepaway Camp

I had no idea what to expect from this film right up until the moment I was watching it. Within the first 5 minutes it's looks to be like a Friday the 13th rip-off and was expecting some Jason Vorhees like-creature to burst out of the lake and start terrorising everyone. How wrong was I! One of the things I love about this film, is the terrible acting and scripting, it's pure brilliance! I laughed a lot throughout this film, one of my favourite moments was when they put a towel over the nerdy kids face and psyched him up to do a sit up, only to remove the towel as he does, and finds himself pressing his nose into one of the pranksters arse cheeks. Classic banter. I was confused half way through, when Angela is kissing a boy on the beach and starts having some strange flashback involving two gay men feeling each other up on a bed, but this I think was cleared up in the last 5 minutes, I think?

I had to check this film was actually made in 1983, as I felt like it could easily have been made today as a spoof to all 70s/80s horrors as it was spot on with poking fun of the clichés that were pretty new back then.

It's definitely not what I'd call a horror film, but have to say it was super fun and kept me entertained.

Nice review.

Yeah, the ass prank was great, although I've definitely seen it somewhere before. What did you think of the same kid playing a boxing game on his calculator?

I think the flashback is to let us know that the two kids had gay dads for some reason. It seems completely irrelevant to be honest, but just some more weird lore from the film. In the speedboat scene the other man is watching from the shore.

I fucking loved the boxing game and was intending on mentioning it! Also, the prank with the shaving foam when he was asleep was absolutely smashing, we have a few ideas now for when we next stay in a pod in the countryside. By the end,I thought the gay scene was because Angela was a boy, and was kissing a boy, but im probably wrong, it was probably just irrelevant
