I can’t believe I’ve never seen this film before it’s great. Written by Quentin Tarantino is got his hallmarks all over it. Kung fu films, pop culture references, comic books, violence and shoot outs are dotted all over this crazy plot and in the middle is the world wind romance. There’s an all star cast as well Cristian Slater plays Clarence, an Elvis obsessed comic book store worker who loves Kung fu films. He is bought a call girl for his birthday (Alabama played by Patricia Arquette) by his boss but he knows nothing about it, she meets him in the movie theatre.
From there they fall in love and decide to get married. Clarence goes to settle things with her pimp Played by Gary Oldman, after talking with Elvis in the mirror as you do. He ends up killing the pimp and getting the wrong bag filled with cocaine instead of Alabama’s stuff. From here all hell breaks loose. After skipping town And meeting a friend they set up a drug deal. But the gangsters who’s drugs it was are constantly on there tail, then the police get involved and it all culminates in and epic shoot out it an hotel.
My favourite scene is when Clarence’s dad is being interrogated by the mobster played by Christopher Walken. When he realises he’s gonna die he just flat out takes the piss great scene.
The soundtrack by Hans Zimmer is great although for me it doesn’t really strike the right tone for the movie. Although it does remind you that your watching a romantic film which is easy to miss while everything else is going on.
I give this film 5 men getting blowjobs in a porch while getting pulled over by the cops and cocaine all over there face out of 5
Too true Shane. And yeah it has slipped under the radar for most of us, not sure how!
I'm shocked so many of you hadn't seen this before. I think the Dennis Hopper/Christopher Walken scene has been everyone's favourite.
