Kung Fu Hustle

I remember watching this film for the first time when I was starting high school, so I was around 10 (13 years ago). My dads best friend, Mr Farley, called it 'the best film ever made' and 'you can't beat the Hustle' so my dad and me gave it a go. Being honest, watching it a few weeks back I have started to fully appreciate everything this movie has to offer. From the slums of Pigsty Alley to the Casino and back to Pigsty Alley, the movie does not need many locations to tell a story, which although laced in comedy, follows Sing's story starting from his sad, troubled childhood through to him realising his full potential through the use of his Fut Gar Buddhist Palm technique. Throughout however this journey we are treated to characters who are strong in their own right, from the Landlady (the coolest person to ever wield a cigarette in their mouth) to the Beast who's appearance does not give any hint to the almost-unbeatable, almost-most powerful being in the film. Overall I found the film as funny as almost its deeper values of growth, redemption, betrayals and friendship. 8/10.
P.s. I realise every man and his dog could write a review better than this, however being my first please do not burn me alive at the stake. Please. If allowed to live, I shall improve.
This review was great! Said everything that needed to he said.
And yeah, the landlady was a badass. Probably my favourite character in the film!
Great pick btw.
Good review dude 👍🏻 I also appreciated it more on the second viewing
