Tea and Tampopo

Last week saw film club hit its tenth review deadline. Ten critical, judgmental weeks have passed since the boredom of lock-down lead us to discover cinema; new and old and tell it exactly what we thought of it (Via a blog that doesn't even have a proper .com address).

To celebrate, Mr Shane Grant, a trustworthy and pleasant fellow typically, decided he would put on a special dinner. As it was Shane's choice of movie picked straight out of the jar (MY jar) he kindly invited the club and their better halves to enjoy an evening of Ramen noodles served during the summer twilight hours in a safe and distanced manner on his rear patio before delighting us all with a 'Noodle Spaghetti Eastern Western'; Tampopo. Below are the pictures from the event:

The sexiest boy of the apocalypse prepares for his first taxi ride in months

A reassuring sign. We had entered the correct address.

The first guests. Richard is excited.

My dinner with David Peel. Richard is less excited.

Delicious Ramen courtesy of Shane and Genevieve. Geoffrey approves.

Even the fucking vegetarians were catered for.

...HE turned up.

The stage is set for our Eastern Western. The crowd begs Genevieve for 5 minutes of sweet sweet accordion music. She hisses in disgust.

We're on! The film is ready and Bones tries his smooth moves with Sophie. Don't look into his eyes, Sophie. You'll be putty in his hands.

Geoffrey is a twisted firestarter.

All in all it was a lovely evening. At least... it seemed to be. Shane is absent from the pictures. That's because the scheming bastard spent the night invisible. He was pulling off the greatest heist the film group had ever seen

The next day I received this:

It was his jar...

For now...

Noodlemania a.k.a. Tompopo

Tompopo was fucking mental from start to finish. It's all about ramen and a sensuous passion for all things foody in Japan. We celebrated...
