Death of Stalin is a 2017 black comedy film about Soviet politicians fighting for power following Joseph Stalin's death in 1953. I've always been a fan of communist banter and this film delivers just that. Whilst humorous, it is also accurate with just how ridiculous the Soviet regime was with it's blatant lies and cover ups, but everyone still went along with to convince everyone just how great the Union was. I did laugh a lot at this film, Paddy Considine getting an orchestra and it's audience to perform again and enjoy it all as they forgot to record it all first time round was one of my favourite parts as you can just imagine that really happening back in those days. Unfortunately I did find myself drifting a little, the point of taking the piss out of these sort of ridiculous dictatorships is clear, but the plot is very limited and I found after about 40 minutes I could have done with the film being over pretty soon. Overall, a decent comedy with a good cast with plenty of funny quotes to raise a good few laughs, perhaps could have done with being a bit shorter though in my opinion. Also, Steve Buscemi is starting to look old!!!
I give this film 2.5 capitalist pig dogs out of 5
