On first watching this film, it appeared to me to be a take on what can possibly happen after death, that it can be like before, just a little worse. I guess for the majority of the film, the main character, Zia, is wandering around in purgatory after taking his own life, with other restless souls who are seeking meaning and closure whilst hanging in the balance of life and death. It isn't exactly a new idea in the search for answers to the big question we've all asked ourselves, but what I do find is the film starts to focus more on what we are looking for in life, rather than what happens after. Realising the things you miss after they've gone, chasing dreams you'll never achieve, and running from demons you can't escape. Things only happen when they don't matter after all don't they? I really liked this film, deep messages in the form of a dreamy trippy road trip works for me. I guess it's all about perception, that's what I took from the film but I guess others may well interpret it differently. I do look forward to finding out what others have to say about this film. For me, very thought provoking and asks the questions we've probably all asked ourselves at some stages in our lives. I will give it 6/10, I would have scored higher but I thought the ending was a bit "meh", but that's just me.
I'm ashamed to say that I think I'm probably the only person that didn't guess the ending of this film. For some reason I had it in my head that they would slip through that black hole somehow and end up in heaven, not back alive.
Nice review my Tom. I think we scored it around the same but got different messages from it!
Lovely stuff, Tom. Nice review 🤗
